MEN'S ROAD TRIP

The March Men's Breakfast went on the road.

Now, there is something rather peaceful sitting in a small town cafe for a super breakfast of bacon, eggs, homefries, toast and coffee and watching out the window as a steady pace of one horsepower minivans (Amish-style) slipped by. And the follow-up trip to a real man's "Mancave" added highlights to the day. Watching a modern day blacksmith and armourer duplicating 14th century weaponry, hefting the broadsword or donning the helmet brings out the excitement and awe of the child that remains within us. And we did not return empty-handed. A modern metal sculpture representing the risen Lord was borrowed for the Lent/Easter season and is on display in the chancel area. If you want a pleasant day-trip and a really good cup of coffee (or even a super large slice of pie!), take a trip to Bonnie Lou's Cafe in Floradale and wander on up to Thak Ironworks for a small step back in time, a relaxing atmosphere and some really great stories of armor, the classics, and if you are real nice, the harpoon cup with your daily ration.
